# GroundBIRD Experiment: Detecting CMB Polarization Power in a Large Angular Scale from the Ground

GroundBIRD is a ground-based experiment designed to detect large angular scale odd-parity patterns in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarization ($$B$$ B-modes). We employ a high-speed rotation scan (20 rpm) instead of the usual left–right azimuthal scan; it allows a significant expansion of... Full description

We employ a high-speed rotation scan (20 rpm) instead of the usual left–right azimuthal scan; it allows a significant expansion of the scan range to$$60^{\circ }$$60∘ without any effect from the detector$$1/f$$1/ f noise. We use microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) arrays with a small telescope; our target multipole ($$\ell$$ℓ) range is$$6\,\le \,\ell \,\le \,300$$6≤ℓ≤300. We plan to start the test observation in Japan in 2014; these will then be moved to the Atacama highland in Chile for scientific observations. |a OriginalPaper |a Inflationary universe |a Cosmic microwave background |a Polarization |a Microwave kinetic inductance detector 1 |a Choi, J.  |e verfasserin  |4 aut 1 |a Hazumi, M.  |e verfasserin  |4 aut 1 |a Kawai, M.  |e verfasserin  |4 aut 1 |a Tajima, O.  |e verfasserin  |4 aut 1 |a Won, E.  |e verfasserin  |4 aut 1 |a Yoshida, M.  |e verfasserin  |4 aut 0 8 |i in  |t Journal of Low Temperature Physics  |d Dordrecht : Springer Science + Business Media B.V  |g Vol. 176, No. 5/6 (2014), p. 691-697  |q 176:5/6:Combined<691-697  |w (DE-601)SPR030871824  |x 1573-7357 4 1 |u http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10909-014-1138-0  |3 Volltext |a GBV_SPRINGER |a AR |d 176  |j 2014  |e 5/6  |c 09  |f Combined  |h 691-697
